Wardrobe Guide For Your Photoshoot

Welcome to our wardrobe guide, designed to help you and your family look and feel comfortable during your photo session. Whether it’s a newborn, baby, child, or family shoot, we want you to feel at ease while capturing those precious moments.

Newborns

For newborn sessions, we recommend choosing outfits that are soft and soothing. Here’s how you can create a serene and timeless look:

  • We have a lovely selection of newborn clothes and blankets to choose from during the shoot. I will also ask you to dress your newborn in a white baby grow so I can capture some natural moments of yawns and stretches as soon as your arrive.

  • Family and sibling pictures - Neutral colours and soft tones like pastels work well and keep the focus on the interactions and emotions shared among family members.

Baby and Children Photoshoots

When it comes to dressing babies and children, the goal is to keep it simple and avoid distractions:

  • Avoid Logos and Loud Patterns: Clothes with logos or busy patterns can draw attention away from the images we are trying to capture. Opt for solid colours or subtle prints instead.

  • Comfort is Key: Ensure the clothing is comfortable for your child to move and play in, as this will help capture natural and joyful expressions.

Family Photoshoots

Family shoots are all about harmony and connection. Consider these tips:

  • Complementary Colors: Choose outfits in colors that complement each other. This creates a cohesive look and enhances the aesthetic appeal of the photos.

  • Studio Photoshoot Neutral and Soft Tones: Neutral colours and soft tones like pastels work well and keep the focus on the interactions and emotions shared among family members.

  • Outdoor Photoshoot - Neutral colours and soft tones work well for photoshoots such as Bluebells. But bolder and brighter colours work well for photoshoots in the woods.

  • Layering: Adding layers such as cardigans or scarves can add depth and texture to your photos.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further guidance. We also have a small selection of clothing available for little ones aged 6-12 months, which you are welcome to use.

We can't wait to capture these special moments with you and your family!

My first maternity photoshoot - Amersham, Buckinghamshire

I had the pleasure of photographing Kelly for her maternity shoot, at 37 weeks pregnant doesn't she look amazing! Kelly is a qualified Nutritional Therapist and health coach specialising in weight-loss, pregnancy and female health, so no wonder she looks this fab! Head over to Feedmehealthy if you're looking for a Nutritional Specialist, in the Hertfordshire or Buckinghamshire area.

Kelly already has a 4 year old daughter called Bella, who didn't want to miss out on any of the action! You can see from the pictures Kelly and Bella have a strong and beautiful bond, they both made the photoshoot fun and relaxing.

I can't wait to meet the new addition and take your Newborn and Family pictures.

A little about me...

Hi Everyone!

For my first blog I thought I would start off by telling you all a little about me and Stephanie Walsh Photography. I'm 32 years old and live in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, I have a gorgeous 18 month old little boy (obviously bias) and a very supportive husband, both of which inspired me to start my own photography business.

Photography has always been a hobby of mine, so in 2015 I went back to collage to study advanced photography and photoshop, which gave me the building blocks to start Stephanie Walsh Photography. I started photographing families, babies and cake smashes and in August 2016 I trained with award winning EllI Cassidy and specialised in Newborn Photography.

If you're looking for a photographer to capture those special moments I would love to hear from you.
